Emperor of Flame

A bit of Teostra fanart. I've been playing MH Generations, and enjoying it, so I decided to try sketching a Teostra.
The sketch turned out well, so I thought I would continue on with it, and try a digital painting experiment with it. It was rather fun working with all the warm and forceful shades in this piece.

Enjoy. :D

I've been doing more sketches and quick art recently, and Larynkir was looking for an Astalos icon, so I decided to whip something up.
I'm rather pleased with how this turned out, and it was a really fun piece to draw. It doesn't take a lot of persuading to get me to draw Monster Hunter fanart. ;)

A piece for Mallikeet

Mallikeet and Wrayette conducting repairs or maintenance on the Juno probe. It seems like a perfect activity for space dragons. Don't worry about the tools, either. I'm sure they'll pick up everything when they're done.

This was a really neat concept and piece to work on, and I had a lot of fun with it. :3

For Shadowsedge, on FA. www.furaffinity.net/user/shado…

This piece had a few challenges, and I wound up re-drawing a large part of it, at one point. I'm much happier with the final result, and especially proud of the aurora and the fish, on this one.
Enjoy! :D

Some art for a few friends. This piece was quite relaxing and fun to draw, especially the background.
Warm colors like that always leave such an impact. :)

I hope you all enjoy it, as well! :D

A picture for a few friends. This one has a few Monster Hunter characters. Since I'm a big fan of those games, this piece was extra fun to work on.
The composition and setting were nice to work with, as well, and I'm quite happy with the result.

I've been making plenty of sketches lately, trying to improve with my composition and speed. Overall, I'm feeling back on track with my art. I'm really hoping that I'll be able to step it up in this next year and catch up to some of the artists that I admire.

I hope all of you enjoy this picture, as well. :)

More art! Woo!

This one started as a little speedpaint sketch, but I really enjoyed the idea and colors, so I decided to spend more time on it, and I'm glad I did. I've been realizing that I can take my sketches farther, and improving my sketches will lead to an improvement in the concept and composition of my finished pieces. Hopefully, this one reflects that. Overall, this piece was fun and relaxing to work on, and feels like a nice accomplishment, now that it's complete.

I hope you enjoy it as much as I have. :D

Alternate title: Butterfly Snoot Boop Blep
This started as a quick painting exercise, since I want to improve my rendering and basic technique. The sketch had a lot of potential for interesting lighting, so I figured it would be a nice practice piece.
It was fun to make something a little smaller in scale than my last few pieces, and I really enjoyed working with the color scheme, like usual. ;)

Also, thank you to :iconneotheta: and Kazzy for some tips and feedback, when I was working on it. :D

Behind The Scenes

Another piece for Malikeet featuring him and Wrayette. Finished at just the right time, too!

Malikeet and Wrayette enjoying a movie. Sometimes things are a little different behind the scenes. :) The two on the screen weren't initially going to be them, but a great comment by Thallori changed that.
I think that change makes the piece much more fun and interesting.

The idea and setting in this piece were a lot of fun to work with, and that theater was a new kind of challenge... Overall, I'm quite satisfied with the quality and speed of this piece.
I don't think I could have done that, last year. ^_^

Scale Brush Pack 2

I put together a few more scale brushes recently, after seeing an interesting photo of some snake scales.
These should be much more refined and easier to use than my other pack. I'll probably make a few more, to act as scale highlights, instead of edges, soon.

Enjoy! :D

Since that compilation has been announced, and I definitely enjoy the Temeraire series, I decided to make some improvements to an older piece. chromamancer.deviantart.com/ar…
I've tried to keep the tone and idea of the original, but with a better sense of space and lighting. Overall, I'm rather pleased with the upgrade.

Hopefully, you enjoy it, as well.

The Way Back

" All real adventures end with the return. The enemies are vanquished, the missing heir is rescued, the revelries are celebrated. Now, to the warm hues of the sunset, the blue mage and his faithful friend ride off to elsewhere, deserved rewards in hand and on the road to further adventure.
After all, this is the way back." (Text by Curus-Keel)
For www.furaffinity.net/user/curus… and www.furaffinity.net/user/icydr…

The scenery in this piece was quite a challenge, but I think it set up a rather nice mood. I tried to blend some of the style of my line art with some of the more recent painting things I've been doing, for more character detail, too. Overall, this was quite a relaxing piece to work on. I hope all of you enjoy it, too!

This is a collaboration piece with blindcoyote.deviantart.com/
If you haven't seen his art yet, be sure to check it out!

We started with his sketch, and both of us passed the file back and forth, adding elements and refining the painting. It was a really fun way to collaborate, and I think we were able to make something really great.
Hopefully, you all enjoy the piece, as well. :)

This started as a speedpaint exercise, but I really liked the tone, so I decided to take it a bit farther, and give it an extra bit of polish.
It was a really fun piece, and feels like a positive step forward, in terms of quick painting technique.
Enjoy! ^_^

Tablet Stand

A little piece for Edi, www.furaffinity.net/user/edi , of his Desktop Dragon being a tablet stand, and getting a little stylus scratch.
It was a fun and cute idea, so I had to try drawing it out. ^_^

I used manipulated photos for the keyboard, mouse, and Windows background, since I figured that would be the best way to keep those things looking realistic and detailed. The lines in the office BG were interesting, too.
Enjoy!

Bluegild Ref Sheet

A reference sheet for ProfKairo, www.furaffinity.net/user/profk… of his dragon.

Breaking the frames made the composition rather fun, on this piece, plus, I don't often try re-drawing the same character or from a description, so this was good practice, as well. The neck and expression are the parts that I most enjoyed drawing. I added a little shading, but tried to use more flat color, since this is a ref sheet.

Comments and criticism are totally welcome on this, too. Since this is something that I might try again, I'd definitely enjoy hearing what I could improve on, as I practice. ^_^

Chroma Hinged Badge

Here's a photo of a character badge I just put together for some conventions, this year. It's holding my MFF conbadge from last year, as an example. The individual pieces of this badge are hinged and modular, so I may draw a different expression, or paw style, if I feel like it.
Maybe I'll put together a reference sheet of this character sometime, too. It's exciting to finally have one.

This may be over complicated, or it may be really cool... There's one way to find out, and I'm looking forward to wearing it around. If you see me, come say hello. ^_^

Art time!

This piece completes a set of 3 that I've been working on. Needless to say, this was quite a fun one to work on, too. It changed significantly since the initial sketch. I'm rather pleased with how it turned out, in the end, but I did have to work through a few roadblocks along the process.

At one time, I drew a face on the person there, but I ended up removing it. The dark cowl gives off more of a sense of mystery, I think.

Enjoy. :D
